PTO Board Meeting – October 24th, 2011

Attending:   Jan Posin, April King, Ali McAleer, Dana Stansbery, Jill Summer,

Cindy Dean, Kelly Conner, Debbie Conner, Chuck Rantala

 

-Treasury report:

$64, 500 in bank acct

$20,880 PTO contributions

Debit card-set up Constant Contact, Pay Pal

Dana and Jill will close Meridian Account

 

-Fall Fest

*Dunk Tank-not going over well, we are not doing it…

replacing it with a Pitching Booth

*Tickets for Teachers-10 tickets and 1 raffle ticket

*Tavan volunteers-10 tickets each (5-10 volunteers) they will take

Soap for Hope contributions with them that night!

*Booths-Spalfini pizza, Applebee’s, Islands, Coldstone, Icee, Kettle

Corn and Cotton Candy

*Donations-Jan will make sure that some things will be held over until Auction

*Centerstage/Performers- approx 85 dancers, they will each get 1 free

raffle ticket for a special prize (bling shirts , sweatbands,

gift cards to Sweet Hair Salon for haircut and 1 for tinsel)

*Staffing-PTO in middle area handling ticket sales

 

-Chuck update

*Shade update-measuring is done, still scheduled to start sometime in November

*Painting work order is in

*Artist in Residency-all set up, January 31st and Feb 1st  1:30-3:00,

tech crew from DMHS will record and upload to internet..Oral

Storytelling

*Holiday lunch-NYPD for teachers, Thurs, Dec 15th…Family Fun is the

same day! Cindy and Jan will order for Chuck :)

 

-Family Fun

* Dbacks Family Fun Night made over $1000!!

* Chick-fil-A – $283.00, great turn out

* Nov – Subway at book fair

* Dec – NYPD (on the 15th) 20% back to DCES

* Jan – Chipotle (on the 11th) 50% back to DCES

* Feb – Family Movie Night (on the 24th)

* March – McTeacher night at McDonalds  4:30-7:30 (on the 1st) , 20%

back to DCES

* April – maybe Airtime? Dbacks opening game April 6th ?

* May – Yogurtology

 

Donuts with Dad – April is working with Walmart, trying to get Dunkin

Donuts?  “Tip Jar”, napkins in closet, working on coffee Starbucks?

 

 

-Book Fair

*Theme is Space

*Teacher preview is Friday

* Set up Nov 10

* Wed is Family night 16th (5pm-7pm)

* Donuts with Dads 18th  (7:30-9am) set up 7am

* maybe $250 for teacher allocation? usually $200

 

- Vendor Boutique

* location is free

* $50 vendor fee

* 8 paid vendors

 

- Rewards Program

* Lisa has Wetzel Pretzels, McDonalds happy meals, Ali got Chick-fil-A

* Teachers didn’t want to reward kids for grades

*not doing this as of now

 

- Community Cares Event

* It was a dud, nothing came from it

 

- SPI Lectures

* Bullying lecture for 3rd, 4th and 5th coming up soon

* Internet safety lecture on November 9th

 

- Grant Status

* Jan met with Jill Feinstein

* Shade

* Water Fountain

* Computers-grant for the whole complex? Jill will look into getting these

* Solar? Covered Parking?

 

- Hospitality

* Jill’s doing November…granola bars, bars, bars! Fruit, soda (Diet Coke, Dr. Pepper, Diet Dr. Pepper, Sprite) Put in copy room

* Holiday gifts are done

 

- Ride Share program wants donations

* $5 donation monthly

 

- Auction/Bingo/Golf

* Troy Weurding, Jan left him a message

* Brian Imwalle would help

* Debbie Blasé will chair the Auction

* Jan will talk to teachers about new ideas!

 

-  Next meeting December 5th General and Board Meeting
